With little to cheer about, we did a fun shoot indoors. Hope you like it!

What's not to love about this image (not much).

I wonder, did you do a shot where she is lit *solely* by the candle (and in otherwise total darkness)? That may have been interesting as well.

lovely!

I like the mood and your use of lighting. One detail for criticism that really stands out to me is the processing done to her skin. Because young kids usually already have clear skin, even the smallest amount of retouching can make their skin look over processed, and I think that's the case with this shot.

Yes, the complexion looks a little be over cocked but I like pretty much everything else. I hope you had also other versions of the set where she looked at the camera. I believe an eye contact here would make a great image even better. Just my opinion…

I agree with most of the other comments - more ambient (candle) and less eye white (which seems over whitened). It seems like a composite. I'd consider making the left wall less hot and orange saturated. Still a nice image.

Thank you everyone for your meaningful comments. I originally intended to share a backstory but did not. This is not a single shot and I regret if it came off in that manner.
We are currently in a lock down with limited resource and my wife made a dress with whatever resource she could muster and I took a photo against a blanket and made a composite. This is my first composite so I understand did not do a good job.
I agree on the feedback on the skin, I did not notice how poor and blotchy it is. I will try to rework.

Here is another shot I tool and while it is no better in dealing with skin, it is a bit more obvious that it is a composite.

Thanks for your kind words. I am not as skilled to light up with a candle, but I hope to do some day.

Thanks Dan, I appreciate your feedback and must add your "world champion" image was something I admired for a long time !

Thanks Joshua, for someone like me who appreciates your work, your comments are a delight.
I did look up an image that has partial eye contact as she was not comfortable looking at the camera and NOT smile
I will try to post it when I get a chance.

Thanks for comments and I agree the warmth is too saturated. I hope we come out of the lock down soon so as to shoot in real locations. Composites are such a pain
