That's a great idea. Thanks for sharing. How do you like this lens? I am stuck between this lens and the 60mm. I have Canons (5d) and the 100mm & 50mm macro lenses with a ring light. But it is such a heavy rig, so I purchased an Olympus OM-D E-M5 II and what a difference in weight. So macro lenses are on my list. I am curious to know what you like and dislike about this lens.
Thanks! There is also a cable that plugs into it for power source. So you'd need some usb power bank along with this.
The usb cable that comes with Laowa light is very unique. It's micro usb on one end and usb on the other, and it plugs in either way up! I had not seen anything like this before. I don't know why anyone else is not doing this with usb which is notorious for always being the wrong way up when going in.
You know this focal length is definitely not perfect, you have to get very close to the subject, and so lighting is problematic. However, I paid $99 for this lens new 3 or so years back from adorama, so considering this you cannot beat it. This is my first macro lens, I only used el-cheapo extension tubes on canon before, so I don't have much experience in macro or macro lenses. But I think I would go for longer focal length if money is no object.
