Alright! I'm back from work and just finished taking some simple photos of my Leofoto gear and mishmash of QD/QR straps and base plate systems.
The first photo is that of my Leofoto gear. Notice the Leofoto QDM-2 & QDC-36 components installed on my groundpod. This allows me to use the Leofoto strap with the push button QD-1 quick disconnects. The tripod is fairly short and stout, but careful positioning of the QDM-2 & QDC-36 components allow me to carry the heavy tripod over my shoulder without being poked in the ribs by the ball head or other protruding hardware. Also, to prevent the tripod legs from opening while in transit, I picked up some hook and loop straps to wrap around the bottom legs. I ordered the hook and loop strap off of Amazon. Here's the link in case anyone is interested in keeping their tripod legs from opening during transit (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G4IVK96/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

The next photo is of my current Quick Disconnect / Quick Release straps. I was first introduced to the Quick Release (QR) system by means of ProMediaGear. I built a small carrying kit around their QR (Arca Swiss compatible) bracket/base plates. At the time, I didn't know their QR plugs (the SS2P2 shown in the photo) were proprietary. At this time, I already had a RRS base plate for my SL2-S and never realized what the small hole on the bottom of it was for. After doing some research, that small hole was for the QD system. Unfortunately, the ProMediaGear QR plugs are not compatible with the QD holes. This lead me down the rabbit hole into the Magpul straps and Quick Disconnects. As you can see I have a few QD/QR straps for my different setups.

I primarily use the ProMediaGear QR system exclusively for my film cameras. Below, you'll see PMG's universal bracket plate installed onto the bottom of my Nikon F2 AS. The two plates on the side are extras. I no longer have a Sony A7R4, thus the PBSA74 PMG plate on the left.

Second to last photo is that of my QD base plates. I use the QD system only on my digital cameras and sole macro lens via the attached lens plate (Leofoto NP-65 NP) to the lens collar. I've been looking at different ways to create a redundant system in the odd case that the QD/QR system fails. I want to prevent a gravity assisted "landing" of my gear onto the ground or in the wet stuff! I preordered the RRS base plate for the GFX 100s, so I will definitely be using the redundant backup with that camera.

The last photo is of the small collection of materials I've picked up over the past three weeks to assemble said redundant system. I had a general idea that either involved 1/2" wide nylon webbing or paracord with some buckles. It wasn't until I saw photos of your setup when I exclaimed "That's it!!!"

If you're curious or would like more info on the items in my photos, please check out the Flickr links under each photo. I added product information in the description for each photo.
I'll post again once I have assembled my redundant setup. Thanks to you, I have the locking D-rings and Pro Loop connectors arriving at the end of the week. I just need some time to assemble it all.

I also started with the PMG QR (SS2) several years ago without realizing that it's proprietary. The reason why I decided to add a safety tether to my straps that use SS2 is that one of the PMG SS2 sockets failed on me. During my communications with PMG, they sort of hinted that they're moving away from their proprietary SS2 to QD in the future. I've already built a system around PMG over the last several years, lens plates, L-brackets, etc. After discovering another defective design by PMG, I decided to move away from adding anything further from PMG to my system. I connect the PMG SS2 plug to the PMG L-bracket on my camera and the safety tether's QD plug into a QD socket with screw to my PMG lens plate that comes with multiple 1/4" threads. Works great, especially for a long lens, as two point connection prevents the gear from swinging freely around your waist.
