A picture of the new Sigma 35mm f1.4 is up on SAR now.

SAR's "source" either doesn't know how light the GM is, or doesn't know how numbers work. 640g is heavier than 524g. For context, SAR even includes the 640g in the linked article claiming it is lighter than the GM, and SAR previously posted the Nokishita specs that contradict the idea that the sigma is lighter than the GM.

SAR has sometimes gotten rumors posted before Nokishita, but I don't think SAR has ever contradicted Nokishita and been right, so I'm going with Nokishita on this one.

Indeed, there are some contradictory informations on SAR about the weight. At first he gives some technical details about the lens, which shows clearly that it's heavier than the Sony, and then this...

If it's right, it may not be a state of the art 35 1.4, but a lens with compromises. It could be clever, maybe they want to protect their 35 1.2.

But yeah, nokishita has proven many times in the past that tey are more reliable than SAR, so...

EDIT :
In fact : if the picture leaked is correct, the Sigma seems at least slightly bigger :

I could be wrong with this superposition because we can't really see the mount itself to make a proper comparison, but if the last "tube" before the mount is about the same size as the GM, this is how it will look like.

From my understanding, Nokishita is in Japan and gets actual leaks (early images, spec sheets, inventory listings, etc.) and not just speculation/rumors from "sources" like SAR. Sometimes SAR will post a rumor first and be right, but I can't recall Nokishita posting detailed specs that have turned out to be wrong. Based on the specs provided by Nokishita, the Sigma is ~15mm longer, about the same height, and ~116g heavier.

The SAR quote is definitely describing the 28-70mm f2.8 Sigma versus the 24-70 2.8 Sony GM. They just used it incorrectly. The Sigma 35 specs from Nokishita are correct; the Sigma will be longer and heavier than the Sony 35 GM

Scratching my head on where the 28-70mm f2.8 Sigma versus the 24-70 2.8 Sony GM came into the picture here. The SAR post is about Sigma 35mm 1.4 vs Sony GM 35mm 1.4. The only mention of 28-70mm is that due to the ghosting issues Sigma was dealing with on 28-70mm f2.8 recently, they had to delay the announcement of 35mm 1.4
