Thanks, John, for the helpful illumination.
Gandhi (note the spelling) was anything but Woke. He was vehemently opposed to the British occupation of India and their methods, but he did not hate the British for the colour of their skin. He was a man of action, of personal sacrifice, not a virtue signaler. Foundational to Gandhi's thinking was the idea of ahimsa (the principle of non-violence towards all things). He didn't send thugs out to riot, burn down buildings, terrorize neighborhoods, and loot Nike stores.
But what do I know? I only spent 25 years in California, seeing San Francisco go from a beautiful haven to a fæces lined hellhole.
