Is it perhaps time for this thread to die a natural death? It really seems to have outlived its usefulness.

I do think there is very little need for it to still be stickied. Though I did just pick up the RF 100L, trading in my RF 85/2 and Laowa 100 Macro.

Edit: and it's going back. Didn't read up enough in the focus shift issue, and in my testing, it's a deal breaker. Very close up, it wasn't an issue. Beyond about 6-7 feet. It's also not a problem, but from moderate closeup (which I do a lot of, with butterflies and such), as well as head and shoulders portrait distances, stopping down moves the central focus notably behind where you focused. It's really not acceptable for a lens of this price point, and it's really a shame, because it has lovely bokeh, and is razor sharp corner to corner when focused properly.

That's such a shame about the RF 100L. Thinking of picking up the RF 85/2 STM. On the R7 I will have the extra working distance, which is great for shooting butterflies and dragonflies, etc, especially in low light.

It seems that the R7 offers stopped-down live view AF which will eradicate the focus shift problem of the RF 100mm macro in a similar manner to the R3.

I was curious about this. I just ordered an RF 100 2.8 to use with my R7 and I hope that will alleviate the issue. If it's still a problem I might send it back and look for something else... but then again I might not. I'm selling my 70-200 IS II that I do not use much and I was going to let this lens fill that void and also use it for macro. It is a very versatile lens with the IS and fast AF.
