All of this discussion about the two big white lenses that are the same lenses as their EF counterpart with a different mount...not even a control ring.
Meanwhile, the 100L Macro has some genuinely great features (an AF lens greater than 1:1 macro, SA control, dual USM motors should make it focus brilliantly. Sample images show almost no CA...) Seems to be a real winner. Don't know if I feel up to spending $1,400 on it, but it's something that will likely eventually end up in my bag, and is by far the most exciting thing announced this morning.
It seems Canon hasn't shown the block diagram for this yet, and it has the same elements and groups as the EF version, but I don't think they are the same optics, given the lack of CA in the sample images and the improved MTF. Looking at the MTF charts, the RF version looks to be notably better in the corners, and reasonably better over the entire frame from wide open. The new MTFs only show wide open, while the old ones show wide open and f/8, so we can't compare at f/8, but the wide open MTFs show better overall resolution and less astigmatism as well, so hopefully some nice tweaks to the optics there.
