Saw a source somewhere saying it would be 500 yuan cheaper than the A1. If 500 yuan = $77US, that sounds over-priced to me.

At 20MP I’m sure it does. Going to 30MP makes quite a difference. If it is aimed at Pros to replace their 1DXs, it better be amazing at high ISO. Also, a gripped R6 doesn’t feel quite as nice in the hands as a 1DX type body. I bought the grip for my R5 and it rarely gets used.

I don't disagree, I love the ergo of my 1Dx2's. My R6 will be relegated to my wedding kit, full time.

Edit: Looks like it's going to have a BSI sensor. I don't recall hearing this before. This thing is going to be a killer sport wildlife rig.

I'm with you if the R3 turns out to be even close to $6400. Maybe if the R3 had dual matching CFE slots, 36-40MP, adjustable ES fps rates, crazy 4K 120fps without overheating, no top dial, etc I think it might warrant that price close to the A1. But at 30MP, no matching card slots, top dial, and who knows what other prosumer specs, I think it should be more like 5k-5.5k range. We'll see next week hopefully.

I am interested, but have no real use yet due to ongoing virus. It's looking like 2022 or 2023 before I would be able to leave the country. So far the Z9 looks like a better option for resolution and maybe other reasons.

Resolution is smack-dab between the 1Dx3 and R5 (30 is 50% more than 20 and 45 is 50% more than 30), and Canon marketing indicates they are slotting the R3 between. Something near the $5199 price between the 1D and R5 does not seem unreasonable, and I think it would sell very well at this price.

Canon’s faster, higher res, better AF, eye-controlled, RF-lens compatible delayed response to the A9 is finally here, and if the Eshutter flash claim is true, then readout speeds will likely approach the A1. Exciting time to shoot Canon.

Agree, 36MP would have been the sweet spot and had broad appeal even to landscape and fashion shooters.

Still I'm glad it's not another 20MP sensor, heck a 30MP R6 would have had me buy one just to shoot with 300 f/2.8 and 500 f/4.

Obviously can't say the R3 is an instant buy since we don't know squat about DR, sensor scan speed, and price. At $6K that's too close to an A1 that is already getting some light discounting in Australia at least. But if the camera lives up to expectations and shows clear advantages over the R5 in AF and the new again eye controlled AF is good, it will be tempting.

Rumor is 6k which is ridiculous imo. Has canon tax written all over it. I think 5500 would be max reasonable ask. The non Dual CF express slot is such a turn off.

I wish (not hoping - coz I know its not going to happen), they would do the future high res R5 with an integrated grip. I like shooting with a gripped body. All the specs on the R3 look fantastic - except for the resolution.
