p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · What am I missing?

Here's some pre-dawn gull action, black backed vs herring, all of which which raises a Q.

Who is disposing of their 20-24Mpx low-light high-action bodies (D5/6, A9/II etc) in favor of a single 'do it all' high Mpx body (D850/Z9(?), A1 etc), and why? Great as one body may be, in low light ISO 8000+ action I don't see it working as well. What will you take to the rainforest: Costa Rica, Borneo or whatnot?

Welcome your input!

Today’s sensors are pretty darn good at higher ISO’s, plus Topaz DeNoise AI works wonders with remaining noise. At really high ISO you will compress dynamic range, but for wildlife that generally isn’t a problem.

Thanks all for comments and feedback. Re. Morris, I'd note the camera and lens will need a raincoat too (perhaps more than me! ). For Bob, I'm not sure the physics of signal/noise can be overcome beyond a point, even with today's advanced sensors (the A9ii images above were processed with Topaz Denoise AI, but you need a decipherable image to start with . For NVM, the AF is awesome and I'm on the hi rez A1 train, so I get you. I'm just noting the use case where it starts to break down, which is especially relevant to the bird and nature photographers (which is why I have asked the Q here, not the 'general gear' forum, with apologies to 'Imagemaster'
