I just briefly tested R4 with 200600mm + TC1.4x + APS-C + CIZ 2.0 on a brick wall across my street. Well to my eye FF or APS-C without CIZ cropped to the same level as CIZ samples provide less detail than Clear Image Zoomed brick
On the other hand - I also tested an indoor sample with my A9 and 14mm GM as it was mounted there, and in that case CIZ sample looked a bit ‘not so natural’ if compared to simple crops. Something like a bit overprocessed result in DeNoise or Sharpen.
Well, in any case, my idea was to see if 200600mm can be used, not the UW lens, and it seems it can be beneficial. I will try to test it with some birds later.

Regarding "to my eye FF or APS-C without CIZ cropped to the same level as CIZ samples provide less detail than Clear Image Zoomed brick", it would be interesting to run that crop through Topaz Gigapixel (Low Resolution - default parameters), to upscale to the same MP size as the CIS image, then compare the two. The interesting practical question is whether there is some "magic" that Sony does in CIS that is not yet surpassed or equaled by a third-party application. If the same IQ can be achieved in post, this would be the preference of any RAW shooter. I understand that CIS is a useful option for JPG shooters.
