Do u get .91 magnification though?

I was trying it at 240 today for some of the time (but not all). I won't be using 240 anymore. Will see if today is any better just sticking to 120. I don't find any benefit of 240 and not sure it is even running at 240 as Sony manual says Finder Frame Rate will be limited if in ES and Continuous shooting (which is basically all I ever do with the camera).

Hmm, so get ready to collect batteries and may be a grip?

Because quick, isn’t instant. It’s still like 10ms slower than dslr, so I don’t even want to risk missing a frame if I have to switch cameras for a different focal length. It’s just part of my workflow.

This morning's outing. The weather man lied and have me clouds after 15 minutes of sun at sunrise, tomorrow should be better.
Tundra swans are still in the area, about 50 of them at this location.

I always have 3 batteries, never get to three but I carry it anyway. Not that expensive and you don't have to worry or think about it

All excellent but the 5th one is my favorite, Jon. Did you notice if the BEAF worked on the swans/ducks in flight?

600GM + 2X + APS-C, 1/2000 at f/8, ISO 800. BEAF worked all the time on these ringnecks.

I finally figured out which AF mode i like with sony for sports that have a bunch of players clumped together with multiple faces. For 3 days i tried real time tracking with flexible spot sm, i tried zone, and etc. Now i have landed on "Spot: L: with face detection on. and been gang busters with it. I was having an issue where the camera would chose the wrong face during a play, id have to let go of BBF, and then hit it again to regrab the face. Where "Spot: L" allows me to choose the face within the small box.

I'm pretty sure it did but it seems dependent on panning smoothness. I'll be back there tomorrow morning so I'll pay more attention.

Does the third party grip work with A1? Or A9II? I know it's always better to get brand grip. But want to see if it's worth additional cost.

I just went through the whole set in a7info. Very rarely did it BEAF on anything in flight, I was below most of the targets at an angle and the light was either warm early light or very overcast, tomorrow will be better conditions. That said, it did occasionally BEAF in flight. This is just a screenshot to show a7info, not the full frame of the image :-)

Just a screenshot, my composition doesn't suck that badly :-)

I'll go with the "first shot" approach others have taken. Nothing to brag about, just had a few minutes to snap some test shots on Friday of some sparrows and other birds outside my window. I agree with others, this camera is a game-changer for bird photography. I found BEAF to be extremely good, even when picking the bird out from a busy foreground of twigs, etc. like this shot. Once it found the eye, it stuck like glue. Compared to my A9II my bursts of shots were way better, with a very high "hit" rate of in focus shots. Today I'm hoping to get out for some more bird photos and then tomorrow it will be some macro and other shooting. This is a 22mp crop from the original, downsized to 1200px wide for online. I used ACR to create a DNG that was edited in LR. Can't wait for the LR update.

I'm not a bird photographer but I came upon this little fellow while on a walk with my son. Unfortunately, by the time we ran home, grabbed the camera, and returned, the hummingbird had left the nest. So, we decided to wait around for 10-15 minutes, and it paid off!

Difficult light to work in, but it was definitely fun. I'm not exactly sure which species this is, but Anna's Hummingbirds is a local species, so that's my best guess.

Edit: Just realized I oversharpened. Also wanted to note that Bird Eye AF worked very well, even when the subject was flying in and out of the tree limbs. It didn't work 100% of the time, but close to 80% of the time the bird was in frame.

Am I the only desperate to see a long burst of tack sharp photos? I know it's a pain to upload a high number of files, but I would love to see it. It might make me click the order button sooner
