p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Unique & Interesting Faces

Well, I finally got the look I was wanting with the Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm f2 and Sony A7ii. There is no shortage of unique, interesting and beautiful faces in India so the lens is certainly helpful to bring out something special. But it is a very temperamental lens, especially shooting wide open. After five outings I can't say I know it very well at all. But I am getting there. Please click to see best presentation.

Nice shots. I see that you spell your name the same way that I do. My mom spelled it this way for me when I was first learning to spell and write, and it stuck. There aren't many that spell it this way, so I'm happy for that.

It's a lens that saves carrying a backdrop. The busy - painterly bokeh area I love. I had a couple Nikkors that draw that way, but not consistently. One I sold because it was too soft wide open (Nikkor 24mm f2.0 ais) and one is very sharp, but it has to be the right background to get that effect (Nikkor 50mm f1.2 ais) Really like the first image.

Hi. Thanks. I actually only use the moniker as an ID, since people usually call me Charles. I thought that was the way everyone named Charley spelled it. I guess I was wrong.

Thanks. I am sure there are other lenses that have a similarly nice bokeh. I just bought the Biotar 75mm and can't wait to try it out and see if it behaves similarly.

The more commonly used spelling for our name, at least in this Country, is "Charlie". This is the other spelling that I referred to. I have met others who spell their name "Charley" in my lifetime, but very few of us seem to exist in the USA. We are "different" than the others and in smaller numbers, so I prefer it this way. Like with you, every time I meet another who spells it this way, I have a short and friendly conversation with them.
