I just bought the Sony 28-60mm... Will be interesting to see what this Sigma is all about.

Totally different lenses. Big thing Sigma would have going for it is 2.8 instead of 4-5.6. You can use the Sigma indoors...not so much with the Sony.

I already have the Sigma 24-70, it's a bit heavy but i like it a lot. I am looking at this new Sigma mainly with a passing interest.

Thanks Fred. This will be very interesting. I'm currently resisting the Tamron 28-75 and hoping Sigma can shrink theirs just a little bit more.

Figures, I just picked up a Tammy 28-75 off B&S. Really though, I doubt the Sigma will be any lighter, which was the primary consideration for choosing the Tammy in the first place.

I would miss the 4mm on the wide end too much but if it’s smaller than the Tamron and provides better bokeh then I may still be interested.

This lens still confuses me considering they have the 24-70 2.8...although maybe they found a way to make it so much smaller that it'll be a tempting alternative for some.

If they make this smaller than the Tamron somehow it would pair nicely with my 20mm 1.8. Just make it 67mm and I'll take one

Nokishita just posted images, looks pretty compact but it’s hard to tell exactly. Has a 67mm thread, so I am guessing it’ll be very close in size to the Tamron 28-75

Just eyeballing but it might be a bit shorter - around 10cm?

I am not seeing any switches, I hope Sigma is not following Tamron's suit by not even including an AF/MF switch.

It does look more compact. Hope they got the sealing part sorted, not a fan of internal dust. It is 67 which is great.

Look directly under the C it looks like you may see the profile of a switch?

If not it’s a complete no go for really any A7C owner as we are pretty limited to custom function switches. The Af/MF switch on lens really helps with actually adding that custom switch. If that’s true I’m out at least. I cannot shoot AF only , I need both as I never trusted AF only

Looks like it to me, in the second photo. It also is in the spot that would be consistent with the other Contemporary lenses.

Sigma’s not noted for plastic which is how you save weight these days. I too depend on the wide end of my Sony 24-70 F 2.8 for 24mm. Rather get the 28-60mm tiny zoom if I accept the narrower wide end.
