Thank you Joshua,I didn't know if there would be to much motion in the wings.The subject seeemed to come straight up all in one motion.

You are welcome! The wing blur due to movement while the head/eye is sharp and well-defined, is what makes the first image great, Gary! A shutter speed between 1/500 and 1/1000 sec for this largish “bird” seems to be the sweet range to capture something like that.
