Thanks!
Any thoughts on the actual usage? Is it a better (more neutral?) starting point than the profiles already present in LR / C1?
If you don't mind to share of course .

Honestly, I just tested it now and decided to do a quick comparison for the forum. I need to start playing with them using different kinds of images to get a better idea of how I like them for my use.
I will be updating with my thoughts later today.

Thank, that's quite an interesting and useful comparison, which somehow confirms one suspect of mine: recent Sony cameras have pretty good JPEGs colors even for skintones, while the dreaded "yellow effect" is mostly due to the bad work of some of the most popular RAW converters' dedicated profiles, (guess the LR one speaks volume in that regard, is by far the worse IMHO, C1 being much better).

I've know of this Cobalt profiles for quite some time, as in Italian photography forums thay have become quite popular, but since I use Affinity Photo, there is unfortunately no easy way to apply them so I gave up (tried converting them into a LUT, with not much luck).

For my personal tastes, I find the Sony OOC and C1 Default profiles the most pleasing to my eyes, with the Sony one with the reds of the sweater just a tad oversaturated (but easily fixable).

I have them for my A7III and A9. I'm always curious to see the calibration made by others (I have my own profiles). I didn't test them intensively, but they seems pretty good to me. A good sign for me is that they seems closer to my own profiles than the defaut profiles of C1.

They all look decent plus minus small differences (mostly in WB) except LR_Camera Standard profile which looks wrong. For CaptureOne I am pretty happy with the native one without Cobalt.

Hello!
Just wanted to provide a quick comparison shot of the Cobalt Image color profiles with the Sony A7R IV.
Let me know what you guys think about them.
Here is a link to the images just in case:

I actually have a shot from that session taken with the Colorpassport in the frame so perhaps would be a good one to share as well.
Let me know if you guys want that one too.

Of course it’s hard to know which are more accurate, but if it’s just a matter of what looks pleasing..
I like the Adobe Color best,
the Adobe camera standard, C1 standard and the Sony JPEG joint least
And the Cobalt ones in between.

"LR_using Cobalt Standard Daylight" Looks very desaturated.

Could you post the raw and I will post the image with Color Fidelity V4 profiles for comparison?

There is a Color Fidelity V4 for the A7R IV? I asked 3 weeks ago and was told V3 was the most recent one which is the one I currently have.

The original JPG is the best to my eyes, with a big difference.
Camera Standard in Lightroom is too yellow.
I am on of those who don’t like Capture One colors most of the time, it brings weird red/brown hues on the skin.
The cobalt are too desaturated.
Adobe Color also looks off to me.
I am so happy I don’t have to deal with this issue with colors anymore.

And yet..here you are.
I have shot the R6 and R5...I have no issues with the Sony or the Canon to get the colors I need for my work.

GabrielPhoto,
I for one would love to see the ColorChecker in the scene throughout the conversion set.
Thank you for the comparison.

Interesting comparison. I am tossing the JPEG because it has way more contrast. I like the C1 renditions. There is more saturation in the shadows than the highlights whereas the other raw conversions are more linear in terms of the midtones having similar saturation to the shadows. Would be interesting to look at the highlights side saturation with a little highlight recovery.

Not necessarily a bad thing at all having a flatter file in raw but in terms of sooc, I prefer the l saturation tending towards the shadow side.

Jpg is the best colour. I'd be interested in the results in C1 with a custom ICC profile from your color checker. Even so the C1 standard is the next best though I'd wind down the reds a bit.

This profile set has been created for two main purposes: color accuracy and separation over biggest color checkers and the color coherence between different cameras.
This test show just a pictures in different profiles; would be more interesting to check the accuracy of colors and not just the better to our eyes or the fidelity of the color reproduction between different cameras on same subject.

Agreed. Just wondering how exactly it became unfashionable to like Sony (colors) in the Sony forum here.

Perhaps due to how the raw engines are processing them?
