Nice work. I took the landing in the Andes flight last year from Ushaia, due to the pandemic I was the only one who showed up. Did you fly with doors off? I had a lot of reflections from inside the cockpit.

Thank you John
The only picture that was taken from a plane and through the window is the one from the Aconcagua (during a flight Buenos-Aires to Santiago).
All the other ones were taken from a helicopter. I broke the bank to allow a rental to fly above the southern tip of Patagonia. The hardest was to convince the pilot (and the company) to take one door off during the flight. To avoid the helicopter's skids and blades, I had to lean outside where the very strong winds were posing a real challenge to keep the camera steady. The worst is that I am normally afraid of heights but that fear seems to fade away when I am behind a camera

Here is a pic from the tiny helicopter during the flight. I was sitting behind.

Fantastic pics and a great story. I have had the opportunity to fly in a National Guard Huey years back and that downdraft is no joke! Since I was strapped in well, the pilot thought it would be fun to do a pretty hard turn and I got a pretty good view of the ground!

Wow, that's really cool! It must have been a great experience.
Fortunately, my pilot was more gentle, I was already fighting against my fear of heights so I guess I would have died if he would have done hard turns

@nikonsafari,

Those are some really nice images.

BTW, I still have my D800E, now shoot with a D850. Also the more and more I look at images from that lens the more and more I want it.

Yes, the 14-24G is really a marvelous lens and I think it would really pair nicely with your D850. I have shot with it in South America and in Africa and it never disappoints. Images made with it are nicely saturated and crisp. And best of all, you can get it for a very good price now that everyone tends to move to newer offerings for their mirrorless cameras. It's really a steal at current used prices

Well, the funny thing is I was debating between getting it or the Nikon 24 F1.4G (same price); I chose the 24, complaining the 14-24 was too big and heavy. Nothing wrong with the 24 prime, but I do like that 14-24. That said, I also have the Nikon AF-S 17-35. I just like the fact that the 14-24 is wider.

Thanks.

Adding the 14-24 wouldn't necessarily make your 17-35 redundant, you could keep it for its 24-35 range and also to use it with filters which is more practical than with the 14-24
And then you could use the 14-24 for its 14-17 range which is where you would use it the most anyways. Having the possibility to go down to 14mm is really nice and at those focal lengths, 1mm makes more difference than one might think. At the end of the day, you have to try it for yourself which is always better.
Just get one 14-24 if you find a good deal on the used market, try it and see if you like it. You can than resell it if you don't find it useful for your type of photography. Another possibility is to rent one if you have a camera rental shop close to you
