Well, the funny thing is I was debating between getting it or the Nikon 24 F1.4G (same price); I chose the 24, complaining the 14-24 was too big and heavy. Nothing wrong with the 24 prime, but I do like that 14-24. That said, I also have the Nikon AF-S 17-35. I just like the fact that the 14-24 is wider.
Thanks.
Adding the 14-24 wouldn't necessarily make your 17-35 redundant, you could keep it for its 24-35 range and also to use it with filters which is more practical than with the 14-24
And then you could use the 14-24 for its 14-17 range which is where you would use it the most anyways. Having the possibility to go down to 14mm is really nice and at those focal lengths, 1mm makes more difference than one might think. At the end of the day, you have to try it for yourself which is always better.
Just get one 14-24 if you find a good deal on the used market, try it and see if you like it. You can than resell it if you don't find it useful for your type of photography. Another possibility is to rent one if you have a camera rental shop close to you
