p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Snowy Owl looks up and sees

While watching and photographing this Long Island snowy owl, I spotted a raptor approaching in the distance. It passed behind the owl and she did not see it. A little white later if came back still looking for food and the owl spotted it. The photo of the owl was taken during the second pass in much nicer light and a dramatic change from only a short while earlier.

I have yet to see snowy owls in real life. But the harrier doesn’t consider the owl as a potential food, I hope. At any rate, great image of the snowy and the second harrier image is sweet, Morris!

Nice shots Morris. It's amazing the sixth sense these animals have to eminent danger. Recently I saw a snowy turn just in time to avoid a mink that was trying to take him down.

I'd be surprised if the harrier would take on another raptor, particularly one that is slightly larger.
