This is a really gorgeous set of photos, Joshua! You captured the birds at just the right moment in every case, and the fact that the details on the birds are tack sharp while the backgrounds are so clean makes for some perfect photos.
Thank you very much, Shirley! As the hummer moved from one flower to the other, I had to be selective in triggering the shutter. But when the position of the hummer and background appeared to be pleasing, I fired away. So, I could do the selection at my convenience later .

Amazing work Joshua !
Great light in 1 and 4.
My favorite is the tighter shot #2.
Thanks for sharing,
Bryan
Thank you very much, Bryan! I used a silver reflective for both and I used a white reflector for the rest. I thought first the reflective reflector would bother the hummer but no, it kept on coming back.

that's right, Bobby. Since Joshua indicated that he cannot afford the traditional models, the model is a fat accountant from the East coast.
Don’t forget to bring your “sexy” outfits, KD but make sure that they still fit you before you come out here !

What wonderful images Joshua!!....nice you didn't have to go far. Love that you set up a reflector, not even something I would have considered (maybe because I don't own one ). I do have extension tubes....use them as napkin rings
Happy and Healthy New Year to you and yours!
Eric
Thank you very much for your kind words, Eric! Luckily, there are accessories that are interchangeable and can be used for both portrait and wildlife photography . But frankly, this is my first time of using a reflector here. I considered using flash but I realized that the recycle time of flash may not be able to keep up in a burst. Plus, flash may harm the hummer, I figured. I started out with just a white reflector and the effect was not so pronounced and switched to silver reflective the following morning. I figured if it bothered the hummer, it would not bother to come, at the worst.
Ha, I like the idea of using the extension tube as a napkin ring. So, it is another multi-functional item, too, then .
Happy Holidays to you and your family, Eric ! And the most important wish of all considering the circumstances we are in now, “Stay Healthy”!
