Sunday was a stunning day here in New York City. It was hard to believe that we would have a blizzard Wednesday night as it was 63f when I arrived in the parking lot of one of our Long Island South Shore beaches. I still had to dress warm with the cold wind of the Atlantic Ocean yet I did not need gloves. After trekking about 1/4 mile on the beach access trail through the dunes I arrived at the lovely sand beach. I climbed a dune and immediately spotted the owl about 100 yards to my east and thought to my self "Wow, that was easy." I set up one dune to her west with the setting sun and wind behind me. Clouds moved in just before sunset and for a moment they thinned providing soft pink light behind me and glowing lavender light from above. I was in nature photographers dream land!

840mm, ISO 1600, 1/240, f9

Beautiful image - I would love to experience what you did there, Morris! Is this the second day and different from the series you took of the snowy with the holiday lights in the background?

This was about 20 minutes before the photos with the holiday lights
