I just received a new M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm f/4 IS PRO lens. When zooming in and out the ring is very stiff to turn and the lens makes a fairly loud, scratchy sound. This is my first Olympus lens - I've been using Canon recently and Nikon before that, and I've never experienced this problem. Has anyone else experienced this with the 12-100?

I bought 2 new lenses and no noise . They are smooth zooming with some resistance, good to prevent lens creep.

Return the lens for a exchange. Where did you buy it? Reputable company would have no problem exchanging, just need to talk to them on the phone.

Not at all. I’ve owned the lens twice and there’s some slight resistance but there’s absolutely never been any sound. Sounds like the lens is damaged or defective. I would just exchange it.

Thanks for the response, PV Hiker. I bought the lens from B&H; I'm sure they'll exchange it. I just wanted to check with a user who has the same lens to make sure my copy really is a bad one. Thanks again.
