p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Two new Sony cameras registered!

From Nokishita: (translated)

Two Sony digital cameras (test machine names 1VY002 and 1VY003) have passed FCC certification. Both are equipped with Wi-Fi (802.11a / b / g / n / ac) and Bluetooth 5. 1VY002 is tested with the top surface down (flat top surface?), But 1VY003 is tilted to the left and right when the top surface is down (is there a penta part?). It is unknown whether it is WW186333 or WW728473.#認証情報

I am hoping for a high resolution/high speed (AF and FPS) body like the Canon R5 and an A7C version with 42MP or 61MP, with a front dial. We can always dream

I am more interested in the tilted one - please make it the A9 III or A9r. Didn’t we hear that before ?

I'm in the "hope it's the A7iv with 30ish MP, new menus, and tilty flippy screen" camp.

That's what I got my money on too. I'd be very interested in that for a fair price.

You will get that The other will be a new pro camera, let's call it A9iii until will we know better.

These are both very important cameras for Sony. Especially the A7iv in crucial. Hoping for anything else dreaming although RX1r iii would be interesting. I think it is it about a time now since RX1r ii has largely disappeared from stock, new Zeiss compact is out and Leica Q2 is enjoying very positive attention (and obviously selling well).

Early this year SAR rumored a 36mp option firmware for the A7RIV. That never happened. I'm hoping and thinking any new A7IV or A9III will have that 36mp sensor. Sony has nothing inbetween the 61mp A7RIV and A9II in the 4th generation of cameras.

I'd be excited for either an A7iv or A9iii. A9iii seems more exciting to me because it will likely be the more innovative of the two, hopefully robustly built like a 1dx or D-series body, higher megapixel count, and with video features to match the A7siii. A7iv will probably be the camera most people buy. Can't wait to see what Sony delivers.

My one wish for new cameras is a lossless compression option for raw files.

canon had to 'downgrade' the sensor on R6 to better the video performance, and still struggles a lot, I don't think we should expect Sony to jump to 30mp+ while enabling full frame 4k60p 10bit recording at the same time and on their 'basic' model

I am hoping for an a9R 36 - 42 mp. I would like to get back to one camera body and not lose any of the functionality I get from my current two body setup.

If that is what they mean when they say I want the Unicorn camera, I am fine with that. How much does a Unicorn cost these days?

Personally, I could give a hoot about video. I just want the best all around stills camera in the World. However, given the momentum in the industry I recognize that video will be super important in the next releases. That is OK too.

32mp a7iv
RX1R3

I wonder if the GM 35/1.4 is part of the launch these bodies.

Flat top one might be either an RX1RIII (unlikely) or an A7Rc. I got the impression the C line would be multiple bodies, so a higher res version would make sense. They could reuse the RIII sensor (but I imagine they'd discontinue the RIII first) or the RIV and charge ~$2700 or so. Hopefully they fix the ergo issues first, as I'd buy one with a front dial, joystick, and better evf.

The other one could be the A7IV (hopefully) or there was that SAR rumored A9 body with 50mp and 8k which would be cool but likely out of my budget after this past year. I don't think they're going to change the body design (as mentioned in the comments on the post) for the new A9 since Sony is so firm on consistency along the main line, so it'd have to be this one with the normal hump on top.

totally buying the A9R or A7IV, since either with higher MP can replace my A7r2, and have good video capability.

Oh, my. Fun and exciting news for sure.

1. What will it do to the price of A9i? Seriously, we are now approaching the top level iPhone prices. Sony is really tearing the market apart by having amazing multi-generational offerings that are all excellent in the first place.

2. A9iii higher Mpx? That will push all kinds of boundaries technologically, computer wise, etc.
a. might need CF/XQD card?

b. have some sort of 'high+ mode' where it shoots in crop sensor mode and a more normal level full sensor performance? 20-30fps in crop (which will still be like 24Mpx) and 10-15fps in full (36Mpx)

c. Mechanical going up to 14/16fps?

or maybe keep same sensor and faster readout? 30-40fps electronic shutter and minor other upticks without anything revolutionary?

Either way, super exciting.

That would definitely peak my interest.
