The first one isn't quite as powerful to me as the second one. At first I thought I was just being drawn to the more dramatic colour in the second one but then I realized you had cropped tighter in the second one - from the bottom and the right.

Perhaps the first one is fine as is because the Towers aren't THE show with the first light. In the second one I think they are the show and are more dominant they way you have presented them. As such, I like how there are still foreground elements but presented in a cleaner, simple manner. I also like how distinctive plants anchor the BL and BR of the photo; especially the BL one. Lastly, given that you didn't have anything to work with in the sky, I like your composition - not a lot of sky but not 'squished' either (apologies for using such a technical term ).

Given the powerful orange of the towers, have you thought of bringing the blue up a touch in the sky? I think it would be very complementary, although you want to be careful not to push it too much, as you wouldn't want it to look unnatural.

Anyhow, my two pennies worth. HTH.

Oh, BTW, while your first photo has EXIF info, the second one doesn't. You may want to add it.

I like the second one, but the foreground colors seemed flat and did not hold up with the beautiful color in the mountain. I tried to give them a lift and more of a supporting role in the image.

Both are lovely but the first one stands out for me for its subtle, mellow light.

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback. Yes, it was a cloudless morning and I could have tried the new sky replacement tool in PS but thought of posting it as is. I will play with the sky by bringing up the blue. Not sure what happened there, I will add the EXIF.
Thanks

Thank you, that does look better.

Thank you Rajan, it was really a cold morning and I was all by myself in front of these majestic towers!! I think I enjoyed just being out there by myself in such a beautiful setting.

I just checked the EXIF box again and it still doesn't show Not sure what is wrong. I posted some images in other forum and it did the same thing. EXIF on 1st image only!

It might not be the same problem I had but when I first started posting the photos I was generating out of LR didn't have the EXIF info in them, so clicking the EXIF box on FM doesn't change anything. Make sure the photo has the EXIF and try reposting to see if it works.

Good luck.

Wonderful light along the towers. I like the greater definition in the rock face in the first, but I think the foreground is perhaps a bit too quiet, despite the wonderful tones in the leading path/line. The comp is well-chosen and nothing is really wrong with it. Just a bit more subtle in the foreground than wow all over.
For the second, I like how grandmas' rework addressed the grasses and reduced some of the blueish tones. Maybe somewhere between OP and rework?

I don't think the foregrounds are adding anything to the images. For the first especially the foreground is large, muddy and seems like it detracts. Opening up some of the shadows might help but for me the best solution would be to crop out half the foreground in the first image and crop just below the two dark shrubs for the second image.

One of the reasons to include a foreground or to place emphasis on it is to increase the feeling of depth. That is not working on these images for a variety of reasons. Techniques that would lend to a feeling of depth are largely missing from these images so the large foreground areas are not helping in that regard.
