p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Is there a remote control for Panasonic DC-G9?

Hello people. I'm brand new and a complete novice, so forgive me. I'm a musician and have a band I video and audio record weekly in my recording studio. I completely upgraded my cameras to Panasonic DC-G9Ls. Four of them. I have them set up on tripods to record songs in the rehearsals. Overkill I'm sure. I'm such a novice noobie I don't even really know what micro four thirds is. I think I'm in the correct forum. I know these are mirrorless. Forgive me. . I know this forum is not where I belong.

So question is this - is there a way to use a remote start/stop control for the cameras? Ideally it'd be great if each of the four musicians had their own remote to start/stop the recording. I know I can use a timer. Thank you.

OK. I figured it out - I think. There's a bluetooth-wi-fi app. I don't think I can control all four but I think I can get the 3 other musicians to download and install it on their phones. This is very cool. Technology.

You are correct about the app. In addition, there's a cabled remote control, the DMW-RS2E, that works with pretty much all Panasonic cameras.

Wow. THAT is so cool. That would be more convenient I think for some of the musicians. Thank you.

I'll probably order one but my local Mike's Cameras had a universal Pro Master Shutter Release - infrared. MUCH cheaper. $20. If it doesn't work I can take it back. But if it does I'll order a couple more. Anyone have any experience with this?

Well I don't think it's working. . I'll still futz.

I have reached the conclusion, particularly when it comes to Panasonic, that I'm mostly better off with original components than buying cheaper third party stuff that may or may not work. That takes time and causes annoyances. If stuff stops working in the middle of a shoot... been there, done that.

The exception is when there are things that Panasonic doesn't make, and then there's testing, testing, testing...

I'm so new to this but I do understand in relationship to audio. I have a pretty advanced recording studio. And I'm a beta tester for an advanced piece of gear audio. So there's a LOT of testing, things work then don't, weird firmware/software conflicts that NO ONE can figure out. Good advice. I order two of the Panasonic ones.

I can"t post a PM since I'm new. I don't have enough posts I want to reply to a PM. I'm not being rude Lawrence! Maybe send me an email address?
