I've looked all over and can't decide what camera bag suits my needs. I'm curious if anyone found bags designed for several smaller lenses. What worked for you and what didn't?

This is what I use for my M4/3 kit....

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AQXLS70/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I carry my E-M10ii, 9-18mm, 14-42mm & 40-150mm lenses (all in padded cases), charger, spare battery, Manfrotto mini-tripod, wrist and neck straps and sometimes my Kahr CM9 and two spare magazines.

I have an EM10 and use the Besnfoto Mirrorless Camera Bag - $20 from Amazon. I like it.

https://www.amazon.com/Besnfoto-Mirrorless-Messenger-Waterproof-Compatible/dp/B07SG271TT

I can't share a picture right now, but I can squeeze in the EM10, Panasonic 20mm lens, Olympus 12-40 Pro, and Olympus 40-150 F4.0-5.6. I can clip my little tripod to the top of the bag and have a remarkably capable kit about the size of a lunch box.

It has an adjustable divider. One potential concern, depending on how much you throw your camera bag around, is that overall padding is pretty minimal.

Domke F6. Little bit smaller bag holds body+lens plus 4 lenses. The Domke F2 is also sometimes used if I need even more stuff. Excellent, but rather unglamorous

Besnfoto Mirrorless Camera Bag
That looks quite nice for a small kit. Would it take an OMD EMIII with 12-100mm I wonder...

https://www.amazon.com/Lowepro-Slingshot-DSLR-Sling-Camera/dp/B0036AWR8E/ref=sr_1_13?crid=Q1VN3833Y0Y0&dchild=1&keywords=lowepro+sling&qid=1601678314&sprefix=lower+sling%2Caps%2C201&sr=8-13

I like this one. Holds my m1.2, PEN-F, several lenses, accessories... Carried it all over the place. Lowepro is a great company, IMO. A zipper broke on a bag once and they sent a new model, no questions asked.

I've had dozens over the years. What I've learned is that it's most important to fit your bag to your activities.

I never recommend a sling or messengerbag. Too great of a risk of bodily injury from putting the weight on one shoulder.

For short walks/rides I use a waistpack.

For longer hikes/travel I use a backpack. Mostly a Mindshift Ultralight but I also have a Manfrotto 3n1.

I'm not a fan of Lowepro. I've used some over the years.

Crumpler sixmillion. Keeping it small and light. I usually keep 2 M-4/3 cameras around my neck/shoulders. Plenty of room for a few lenses and one full frame camera. It's rare when I have to carry the bag tho.

I miss Crumpler. They make great bags but I thought they left the US. Can you still buy them new?

Thanks for all the feedback! I feel most bags large enough to hold a water bottle are also leave much more room for cameras than I need. My decision is still torn between a bag that fits just some or all of my gear.

Most of us end up with more bags than we know what to do with.

I would recommend a bag that carries just some of your gear:
1) it will be lighter. That will reduce your risk of injury/pain.
2) if it's stolen, you won't lose all your gear.
3) having to think about your objectives when you pack can help you to become a better photographer
4) you will become a more versatile photographer by having to use your existing gear (that you have with you) to solve specific unexpected challenges.

You forgot the "s" in camera bags

My most used bag nowadays is a Billingham 225. It's the kind of bag that I wonder why I didn't buy 10 years ago. It rooms my two GX8 bodies, Panasonic 7-14/4, Zuiko 12-40/2.8, Panasonic 100-300, Panasonic 25/1.7 and one of my 50mm lenses in the main compartment. In the front compartments, there's room for batteries, chargers and all the other things that I carry around. To my surprise, my MacBook 12" slides into the inner front pocket. This is my "city bag".

Another bag that is perfect for MFT, particularly for many small lenses, is the LowePro ProTactic BP 350 AW II. It rooms as much as the Billingham or more, has three openings in addition to the big flipside one, which makes fast access to any of three camera bodies (or lenses) very quick. It's also more or less indestructible. The laptop pocket takes a 13" MacBook Pro. My "action and travel" bag.

This isn't a camera backpack specifically, but I'm using the Rei Ruckpack 28 with a a camera insert. The backpack has a side-opening, so that's what's made sense for me when travelling. I have a feeling that camera inserts in general would better suite smaller lenses in general.

I have a Think Tank backpack for throwing in the back of the car and I use a Wotancraft Pilot for actually carrying stuff around. If I go smaller, I have a small Billingham bag.

Any smaller Domke bag should be good too. I always find myself going back to Domke for no-nonsense bags.

I wouldn't presume to recommend one. What I use, however, is a PacSafe camera waist pack that holds a body and two lenses, with RFID shielding for passport and credit cards and an outside pouch for some cash, cards, batteries, whatever. It's lined with stainless mesh so it is cut-proof (at least on the fly). The locks and zippers take two hands to operate if fully engaged and the strap has two heavy stainless cables to prevent slashing. Zippers can be locked. I've been all over with it and use it with confidence against pickpockets or grabbers (with a little vigilance, of course). Click it around a chair leg and enjoy eating in a city restaurant or cafe. Great for street shooting. It isn't currently made, but PacSafe has a sling pack with similar security features. Their bags come with attached rain covers that tuck hidden in pockets underneath.

For car trips or sessions outdoors I pack a LowePro Flipside 300 that holds an E-M1iii with a 300/4 + MC-14 mounted, an E-M1ii in an interior pouch, a full-size Olympus flash, and 40-150/2.8, 7-14/2.8 and 12-100/4 lenses. I can tuck in a teleconverter. Little stuff goes in an exterior pouch. It's good for carrying stuff but the flip feature with a full load isn't comfortable for me.

My macro kit for the woods sits in a Think Tank Retrospective 7. It easily holds a body, 60/2.8 macro, ground cloth, some Smallrig parts for configuring setups, Platypod and accessories, big ballhead, and maybe an extra lens. And bug spray. No provision for a travel tripod, though, and that's an inconvenience. I guess I use it because I bought it a while ago and it was staring at me from the shelf, making me feel guilty.

A perfect bag may be coming. Perhaps when the lion lays down with the lamb.......

I'd love to hear more about your macro setup and your plattypod. Does it work well for flashes or the camera itself.

My waist pack is (I think) the Think Tank Speed Demon.
I avoid anything that puts the weight on one side of the body as it can lead to permanent injury.

As for a platypod, Amazon sells a Decade plate that is less expensive and works better. I've had both.

I don't spend money based on being paranoid. So I pass on all of those so-called security bags.
