So I've been shooting birds for eons. But I'm primarily a landscape / waterscape shooter.
I've been a creeper on this site for close to 10 years I'd say.

Having not so great equipment for birding, and seeing the just mind blowing work on here over the years, has been two things for me: aspiration and humbling. They say the photographer makes the images, but.... we all know when it comes to wildlife, good equipment does make a difference.

Now, since I've switched to Nikon, I'm definitely seeing a much higher keeper count, and I find the images ARE better, but I still won't be posting any of those here . Not yet anyways.

These two images, though, are honestly the first two I've taken in 20 years of shooting that I felt were good enough to post in this specific forum. I hope you guys think so as well.

Sorry for the novel, and thanks for looking.

Nice capture! I certainly understand your reticence for taking your time to post in this group. There are so many outstanding photos that are produced on a daily basis. Anyway, keep those dragons coming!

Welcome to FM. We all started as beginners. This group has helped many that have asked so if you are running into a problem superb advice is available for free.

Both are nice images. I prefer the second as the leaf is cropped out and not pulling my eye. There is also more detail in the wings.

Excellent images!
Nice light and in-focus wing tip to wing tip.

Thanks for the kind words. Should clarify, nowhere near a beginner. Been shooting since high school ( 93 grad ), but mainly landscapes. Just my first post in this specific forum. I've posted in the landscape and B+W sections.

Thank you, maybe I'll muster up the courage to post some birdie pics here later. They're good, just no where near as good as what I see on here lol.
