Love hiking into the hot steamy inland of Kauai. The sweet smells of guava invade your nostrils as the many different birds sing their songs.

Beautiful! I so miss the Hawaiian islands. Hoping Covid doesn’t mess with our trip next May. Bob

Yeh, we go to Kauai at least once a year. Cancelled out last April due to Covid. Looking at next September to resume our treks.

Nice composition! Looks like rugged country. Kauai is the only major island we have not visited in the chain.

If you like that type of experience, I highly recommend Costa Rica (or Panama). You get the "jungle", plus amazing birds, monkeys, butterflies, and some mammals.

Yes, been there long ago. Need to go back. So many places on my list.

Did you know that many of the forests on Kaua'i are the result of large scale tree planting projects during the early 20th century to restore watersheds? Much of the island's vegetation is non-native and oftentimes invasive like the Strawbwerry Guava for example.

Yes, many non native species thrives there. Still does not take away from the beauty of these species.

Yes, Kaua'i is a beautiful place. Been there a few times. When I saw your image and your comment about guavas I remembered a presentation at the Limahuli Garden and Preserve about the seeding of the island with thousands of non-native plants in the early 1900s. Thought that might be interesting for other forum members as well. Obviously it wasn't. :-)
