Seems like every year around this time my backyard is a training ground for a couple of juvenile Cooper's Hawks. Typically they hang back in the branches away from my suet feeder waiting for the right moment to take out a small bird. I can hear their calls pretty much all day long and every now and again they will come out in the open enough for me to take a few shots. The shot of the hawk on the ground was after it made an attempt to dive on a small bird on the ground and missed and ended up in the middle of the bush and then sat up and just looked around for a while.

Beautiful surroundings for their training. I had 3 juveniles learn to hunt in our front yard this year.

Wonderful photography Louie. I love the compositions with your use of natural framing, contrast and DOF for subject isolation. 2 and 4 are my favorites

I enjoy the first and last out of this great set. Although I like the pose of the hawk in #1 more but the background is a tad, just a tad distracting. Well-captured images, Louie!

Thanks a lot Joshua, and yes I agree but couldn't do much about the background so I did the best I could.

These are all fantastic shots. The framing and composition are excellent. Colors are great. What a beautiful bird.
