p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · [Thread for]M43 Images illustrating novel, creative technique / atypical application of m43 gear

Creating a thread for novel, creative, atypical images made using m43 gear.

"Atypical" application could be Breaking typical conventions using a lens or camera in an atypical / novel manner
Examples of atypical application include, but not limited to -
Wide angle wild life (atypical because usually long focal lengths are used for wild life)
Slow shutter action or wildlife (atypical because usually fast shutter speeds are used for action/wild life)
Telephoto landscapes
Creative application of Live Comp or Time Lapse etc
Telephoto ICM
Telephoto Live Comp
Abstracts
Telephoto macro made using 300mm or similar focal lengths

As the goal is to illustrate atypical/novel usage of m43 gear, "Digital Art" that relies on excessive manipulation of images via software won't be a good fit for this thread.
Editing is fine, excessive manipulation would be making a kaleidoscopic rendering of a flower using software.

Please try to mention gear used and exposure settings.

Examples:

For clarification ...

Using a LENS or CAMERA in an atypical or novel manner.
NOT to be confused with using PP in an atypical or novel manner.

While each could result in an atypical or novel image, the focus is on the means, rather than solely the end.

Am I reading you right, on that one?

Tying to bring out the fun element of experimenting with (only, or mostly) the gear

Telephoto landscapes I'm defining as over 100mm focal length (200mm FF eq):

Oh, and I'll throw this one in as sort of a mix between "telephoto landscape" and "wide angle wildlife" concepts thought subject is not really "wildlife" though it does appear on some of the more witty "Death Valley Bird Guides".

Anyway, something usually shot very tight at extreme telephoto at this particular location which has always mystified me as doing so completely removes the amazing context in which the action is occurring. Placement and scale chosen specifically to hopefully illicit the compositional technique of "delay" (i.e. viewer on first glance thinks "alright, so what" followed shortly by "OOOHHhhhh.....").

Partial Color filter with the E-M10 III and 8mm FE Pro. Fun to select color during composition in the EVF.

Yellow partial color with street reflections in store window.

Part Color at the red/yellow intersect on the color wheel.

Probably doesn't really show, as "atypical" use ... but, this is a long exposure with some light painting with a flashlight on the GX8.

The main point I think though is that the thread was a prompt to explore and stretch yourself.

2nd one is just trying to get in close enough to show some motion for making bread.

Light painted landscape. I used a head lamp, either in spot or flood mode depending on what I was painting. To create a soft light I moved the lamp around in a large square pattern as it was pointed at a subject essentially virtually creating a large 6x6 foot soft box during the exposure. I created a custom color profile for the somewhat poor CRI light. This hot spring has two openings so I also lit the opposite opening to show the underwater features while keeping the foreground opening free of reflections.
