Borrowed an A92 from a friend to try. He buys stuff but doesn't use it so I get to ave fun! I think I may regret using this camera since the AF is really ridiculous. Amazing kit. I am a sports shooter normally and have a full complete of Nikon gear. This will use some sleepless nights for sure. C an C always appreciated.

Interesting. In my experience A9ii BIF AF isn't better than D5, at least with native F5.6 or faster glass.
MILC AF at F8 and above is better than DSLRs.
The customizable Sony buttons are another advantage (D5 does have a recall shooting settings custom button option that does something similar albeit to a lesser extent).
Overall though, haven't had sleepless nights with either, so FOMO isn't a worry!

Great shots! The A9II is a beast, especially for off-center focusing. Makes it much easier to frame larger subjects if you're filling the frame.

I like #3-#5 the most out of the excellent set, Andy!

Thanks all for the comments. Tstop I can tell you with my limited experience with the Sony it is a completely different experience using the Auto focus. I have been shooting Nikon for years and probably have over 700k clicks thru my D5 and 2 D500's all with native glass. The Sony grabs small birds and doesn't let them go, the AF is crazy good. What will cause me sleepless nights is considering adding the Sony to my kit. At the end of last season on the sidelines Sony was becoming more prevalent in the land owned by Canon and Nikon. Die hard, life time shooters were seriously looking to switch to Sony and most of them would have if the 400 2.8 wasn't so expensive. I am having a blast using this wonderful camera and I can see why it is a game changer!

Glad you're enjoying the A9ii setup. Clearly my Sony vs Nikon experience is somewhat different, both with small and large birds that are generally grabbed well by D5 (provided they're centered in the frame) at F4 and F5.6 as well as by A9ii.

For me, the A9ii game changer is the blackout free 20FPS (though often dialed down to 10FPS), and the light Sony GM super telephoto lenses for hand held BIF shots. However, speaking of weight, I wouldn't want to be without the D5/D500 and 500/300PF either for super lightweight all day carry. Both Sony and Nikon offer great BIF kit IMO. For me, the limitation is my skill and technique, not the kit.
