These were taken at Kissena Park here in New York City. I visited a small stream that I was told about by a friend and was surprised to learn about it as I've been visiting this park for 40 years. It was a hot morning and would later turn into a brutally hot day.
I had very little working room shooting from the trail that crosses the stream with very steep banks resulting in deep shadows and in the morning strong back and/or side light. There were lots of different types of birds in the area making it a fun spot to shoot.
