I had just finished shooting a few of the shots here (plus a few more for another day), and realized I had 2 frames left on my card. I stopped on the trail and started clearing out a few out of focus ones as a precautionary measure when all of a sudden I heard something crashing through the forest on my right. I knew we don't normally have bears here, especially during summer, but we do have Mountain Lions. Bounding out of the forest comes a pair of Mule Deer, one of which is seen here. He stopped dead in his tracks, as did my heart and I took this photograph.

All very well done John. The fist might benefit by getting the subject out of the center of the frame by giving it more space in the direction it's looking. The hawk is my favorite because of the great expression.

Thank you, #1 could use a crop for sure. I am partial to the hawk as well.
