These sibling Rufous Hummingbirds were newly fledged and able to go to flowers and feeders on there own. However, I don't think they had picked up on getting their own bugs, yet. Resting on a branch between their forays, they were watching for mom to feed them. She would come up to them as they begged but didn't give them anything. They eventually followed her and days later I saw them doing their own foraging through the firs and desiduous trees. Thanks for looking.

This is an excellent set Rex. The first looks a bit like a mirror image yet the flight images and others show they were interacting.

Rex, these are truly superb images and a feast to the eye. The sharpness, the bokeh and colors, all great and of course, the hummers and their action are first rate!

Rex,

I kept looking at your images over and over, then comparing your camera settings and looking again and again. Tac sharp focus, beautiful color, coupled with brilliant composition and a story too. Then I realized these birds are about 3"s tall and you were likely shooting in the shade of a tree, great work!! The ISO settings that produced these images is exciting to see in a camera, the lens is certainly very capable and you put everything together along with being there to take the photos. Was fun looking at your images!!!
