Artistic and very enjoyable images, Kim! The bokeh rendition is buttery smooth. I love #1, 3 and 6 a lot.
Joshua
Thank you, Joshua. These are small birds (especially the female) so with this setup almost mandatory to include some environment. Fortunately, I found a couple places that offered some complimentary backgrounds. #1 taken from my car--otherwise woudn't have been crazy about the perspective.

Yet another Sony convert and you are off to a great start with the new gear Kim. These are all good yet the last two are beautiful. You left just enough of the environment in the first to make it interesting yet it's tight enough to show the feather detail. The second is a gorgeous environmental portrait. The yellow flowers add interest both in focus and out of focus.
Morris
Thanks so much, Morris! After a long, dry spell, these have been a real treat! Not only some interesting and unique locations, but almost no one around! I got to experiment a little and adapted to the fact that they spend so much time quite low to the ground.
As for the Sony convert, I am loving its advantages! With our birds and wildlife as skittish as they are, the spot-on AF and silent shutter are helping to up my keeper rate. So far, haven't needed the uber-fast frame rate, but it's nice to know it's there. For now I've kept my Canon gear--not sure if Sony is going to be as robust in some of our cold Winter weather...

#2 and 6 are my picks from this amazing, background rich series, Kim.
Best regards,
Thanks, guys. I like those two also. #2 was another taken from my car window. Sometimes you can drive/glide right up on these birds and they'll stay put. Other times, you can't get close. I was really happy for these relatively close poses!

Very nice set, I really like these.
Thanks much--it was my first time concentrating on this species--fascinating--and just incredible plumage (on the males).
