Great set of photos of the Mom. She must have been starving after feeding the chicks for several weeks. As they get older, they get more and more demanding and voracious. Tough work being a parent.
Thank you very much, Shirley! Yes, those chicks can never get full, it seems but their rate of growth is just amazing. Plenty of images to go through from both locations... And I keep on coming back. But they are not quite ready for a mid-air food transfer. Maybe next week sometime...

You got that right, Shirley! Mom was trying to be fair this morning. She flew back with a bird to feed the fledgeling who had not yet eaten ... and one of the siblings hopped over and stole the food from him, or her!
Tough to be a grunt, uh, male chick and to grow up together with 2 dominant female chicks, huh, Bobby? Thank you, Bobby!

having found a local pair with fledglings, I have a new appreciation for these birds. Your set does them absolute justice. One thing I did learn was that the fledglings (at least the ones I saw), didn't emerge until they were ready to stretch their wings and fly. I your nest was more exposed, you may have seen them earlier.
Gero
Thank you very much, Gero! And yes, you are correct. Although I have been photographing them in the last 3 seasons but it seems that I have found a new appreciation for them this season. There are 2 nests that are approximately 10 miles apart in Southern California that I know of. Both nests are at an extremely steep cliff face and until they actually fledged, you cannot see the chicks at all.

Hey buddy how you doing
#1 upper wing looks odd all along bottom edge to me?
It looks like these may have been a higher contrast image and you backed off the shadows quite a bit and toned down some highlights on the top of the chest? What I am going to say may sound a little different but these feel a little bit 'tight' to me.
The last is wonderful. A thought against the norm, could less sharp be more inviting to view, could some shadow add some drama and natural dimension and depth to the image? I only say this as you have soooo much to work with here
I am just pushing your buttons to go outside your comfort range, what if the image had a fade from somewhat 'relaxed' to sharp and critical at the head eye area. What if the stick were less sharp?
BG color is just awesome Joshua, details abound, maybe a tad less sterile and more emotion if that makes sense.
OK this will probably be disliked by many, yes sir it is your image and it's really not for me to say, only for me to suggest.....................and that is all I am suggesting
Rock on, incredible work my friend!

Thank you very much, Karl! I am doing fine and I hope the same to you. Well, we are both still on this side of the grass .
Yes, the first image is too contrasty, although I didn't do much sharpening except using that from the Topaz Denoise. When imported everything was at the camera default setting in RAW. I do use a double step resizing with minimum sharpening for the web. That added to the apparent sharpness. Thank you for your suggestion, buddy!
