p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · More Fringer PRO II and Canon gear

I have the Fringer PRO II for my X-H1. When I got several weeks ago, I attached a Canon 135L for a poor man's 200. Outstanding. Beautiful rendition. Focus - BAM. Couldn't ask for more (Like that every limited any of us).

Today I got my rental from LR, a 70-200/4 II. YUK!! Talk about focus hunting and with static subjects. Like buldings, and Art Museum. I shut off all IS. YUK. Added body only IS YUK. Shut off Body and added lens IS only, also YUK. And here in Philly it is a superlatively beautiful day, so dim lighting isn't an issue. I'm hoping it's my stupidity in setting up the camera. So for those of you using the Fringer PRO on a Canon Zoom, what are you using? TIA

anthony

I heard the sigma 50-100 1.8 is a beast with the Fringer PRO II you should give that a try

Did you check to see if that lens is optimized for the fringer and maybe update the firmware on the adapter. If it is not optimized then that is why you have those issues.

@apsphoto. It appears that upgrading made a major difference. Not 100%, but demonstrably apparent. I had v. 1.30 on it. Had not changed it since I got it. Thanks so much, anthony

Edit: Yep, it has made a MAJOR difference in focusing speed and acquisition. No more hunting, repositioning, nada. Serves me right for not having checked out the Firmware updates. Geezerdom strikes again.

I'm using the Canon 300mm f4 IS with the Fringer Pro II on my X-Pro3 and all seems to work fine.

Every time I use the EOS 400/5.6 I'm super impressed how well it focuses on my Fuji.
Fringer did quickly what Metabones struggled with for years.

That Fringer Pro II is a great investment. I have a good number of great Canon lenses that Fuji doesn't make at all
50 1.2 85 1.2 II 300 f4 IS 200 2.8 70-200 2.8 IS 40 2.8 STM - many more - I still love the Fuji lenses but being able to use the Canons so well makes the relatively small investment in Fringer Pro II well worth it.

FWIW, turning off the IS on the 70-200 and using only the IS on X-H1 made focusing, etc. even better.

I just got the 40-150 Fuji, and that'l get me to almost 300mm w/ the crop. I'm thinking a Canon 300/4 might be an option for distance landscapes, aircraft at a distance, or to grab pics of looters in action.
