The Water Walker, The Western Basilisk (Basiliscus galeritus), the fame of this reptile is attributed to its incredible ability to run over the water due to the membranes present on the toes

As the foot enters to the water, these structures extend and make a pocket of air around it that increases the support surface on the water

Its distribution zone goes from the Pacific Coast in Colombia to Ecuador

Adult males have a pronounced round crest like a helmet, hence the name "galeritus". The females have smaller crests. Without a doubt one of the jewels of Choco

Both are excellent images! Not sure how you got the close-up of the eye, but it's an amazing image.

What an incredible, well-adapted creature! Your portrait (and the eye) is intriguing--well done.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks, Dave. The eye photo is made with a macro lens and magnification, accompanied by a fill flash

Great catch and excellent close up of it. Also called the Jesus Lizard. Actually it is the young ones that can run across the water. The older ones get too heavy. Certainly one of my favorite sights along Chocó streams in Colombia.

My comment pertained more to how you managed to get the lizard to hold still while you got close enough to get a macro shot. I am also surprised it would tolerate a flash.

To photograph lizards, you must approach slowly without making sudden movements, as in birds. If you move too fast it will scare and run. It is preferable to bring the tripod closer and not the person because the tripod is smaller.
Also the picture has a crop.

The flash doesn't bother them, you can use a diffuser from a distant place just to fill in the shadows.
