p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Mud Cracks in Death Valley

Last March I was able to take a short trip to Death Valley National Park. Spent a night and then headed back up north. It was a whirlwind trip but I captured some amazing photographs during that time. This one took the bulk of my time at the Salt Flats. Mainly because I used my tripod for this shot, which I don't do much anymore when the sun is on the horizon. It was also because I planned a focus stack for this image. This is my first official focus stack I've done on any of my photographs and was pretty much required because these mud cracks were hard to get sharp otherwise.

I'm open for C&C on this, especially from those of you who've done focus stacking on what I might improve upon. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy this one!

Moderately handled this very delicate and complicated situation

Great light. At the posted resolution the focus stack looks fine. Personally I think there's too much sky and I would crop to just above the main cloud. The steam on the edge of the photo is an interesting one for me. I would probably darken it down to make the focus be the cracks, mist, sun and sky. Anyway that's my thoughts. It's a beautiful photo.
