Mr GM, why not 24-70 GM mk2? I have understood that it is the next Sony lens coming out.

I am also looking for s new std zoom. This Sigman is/was tempting, and pice is kind of right, but recent Sony lenses have been so strong in every way, that they are difficult to overlook despite price being more than 2x Sigma

A7III = $2000
A7IV = $2500

70-200 MI = $2300
70-200 MII = $2800

70-200 MI = $2200
70-200 MII = ~ $2700

As you can see, Sony prices are going up. This Sigma is $900 on this sale, and it is already better than Sony 24-70 MI in many ways. I am sure GM will be great but at $900 Sigma IMO is a no brainer.

Can someone with a newer version of this lens confirm that dust issue is fixed by Sigma?

I agree, the price comparison is brutal to Sony. Decision is not easy knowing that GM mk2 (when it will be available) will be even more expensive.

However, I expect the prices to slowly normalize when availability gradually becomes better. Difficult to say when, will it be in 6 moths or two years - nobody knows now. I have just seen and used too many Sigma's during my years in photography. Occasionally they nail it but in the case of 24-70mm I think Sigma capitalizing the fact that equivalent Sony offering is waiting for a revamp.

24-70DN was released in 2019...

Good question. On the other hand I believe I read somewhere (Eruditas post) that lenses with 5004 series markings may have been fixed.
