First Rufous are now appearing mid Vancouver Island.

Fantastic job of documentation Tony. Very interesting and well done. But now I need to know, Why ? I ask this in all sincerity and I'm not putting the onus on you or anyone here to enlighten me. Something I'll need to research. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks Gary. Why do they do it? Same reason they band all kinds of birds, fish, bear, caribou, whales, etc., etc.

Bands identify individual birds so that we can better understand their movements to breeding sites, migratory pathways and wintering areas. By reporting bird bands, you contribute directly to conservation efforts.
