I "discovered" this fellow about 20 feet from my feeder stand in fairly heavy foliage. I'm sure they've been around, but apparently aren't interested in my feed choices as I have never seen one on any of my feeders. This was one of the most challenging critters I've ever tried to photograph. He would not stay still, kept moving in and out of widely varying light, would disappear in the low brush and reappear at the top of a 8 foot tree and everywhere in between. Not to mention it was blowing a literal gale on the NC coast that day. I watched it capture a large (relative to it's size) caterpillar and return to the depths of the tree leaves where I could see it pounding the guts out of it's prize before eating it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a acceptable image of that action. I heard several more around the same area, so I should get plenty of practice in the coming weeks. Jpeg edited on my iPad.
