"You'll have a lot more respect for a bird after you try making a nest." ...Cynthia Lewis

This was a difficult scene to photograph. Eagles nests are hard to shot due to the angles and size of the nest. This nest was no exception with lots of branches supporting the nest. Additionally there were many large sticks that obstructed the view. Shooting this at 700mm (500 +1.4) meant moving the tripod rig every time the eagle moved her head - a different location for almost every shot.

What seemed like just an eagle (photo 1) turned odd when a dark structure seemed to grow behind her (#2) This turned out to be "Junior" or "Princess" that is just visible on #2 to the lower right of mom.

Junior or Princess finally becomes apparent in #3 and #4

#1 Just Mom

#2 Mom with emerging Junior/Princess

#3 Mom and Princess/Junior

#4 Mom and Princess/Junior

Good looking set Bob. Looks like you were able to get fairly close and the nest was not that high which I think is unusual or you had some elevation.

Thanks Morris. I was fairly close - all relative - but the nest was as about high as most I've seen. Probably the highest point in the area. This was taken somewhere near Naples FL. The post is also a fairly large crop of the original image. Here's the unprocessed image right out of the camera that may give a better perspective. This was taken with a 700mm lens on a crop body (Nikon D500)

This is a super nest! I bet both parents worked hard to make it come true, thanks for sharing.

Thanks Ted. Just curious - have you been to Conowingo? The last few years have been ones with fewer "good" days. I have been thinking of trying the Mongaup and Rio Reservoir area in Delaware Highlands this year - COVID 19 permitting.
