Schools are closed here in Switzerland until the end of April. Only essential stores are open - supermarkets, banks, places to get take out. It has been advised to stay home - both for work, and for leisure as much as possible. Today groups of 5 or more together outside are illegal and punishable by fine. 8000 troops have been called up to help the cantons, and the federal government today released its first details of a economic package to help people struggling - ~40 billion CHF have been pledge to support everything from the freelance artist to the hourly worker to arts and cultural institutions to sports teams.
This is the first week of our 'home schooling' routine - the girls get an email at 9am with their work for the day, and they can email / chat with their teacher (and call on the phone, if needed) whenever they need help. We've structured the day as best we can to be 'normal' - the girls work in their room or at the kitchen table, take their regular pause and lunch, snacks and the like.
Before the day starts I've been trying to keep a routine of a morning walk with my eldest daughter. She sprained her ankle yesterday jumping off the neighbourhood swing - so this morning we only walked up behind the hill from our house. She wanted to see the sky change as the sun came up - so we walked with the pup, found a bench and enjoyed the changing light. Today the crescent moon was floating above the Glarus Alps, the sky was purple and pink and orange, and everything seemed right with the world.
