Can't say I like the transition zone too much.
Rendering seems to be closer to the 40mm 1.2 than the newer 50mm 1.2, I was hoping it to be closer to the 50mm. Might have been too optimistic.

Should also be getting a review sample soon, maybe this week even.

Indeed, the transition zones look rather harsh to me too, but maybe some of it is caused by postprocessing...

Yes, the post-processing seems also quite contrasty (no offense).
From what I've seen I don't believe the lens is that contrasty.

I don't like the transition zone either. Probably it's the "abnormal partial dispersion glass" what's the 35/1.2 V3 and 40/1.2 are lacking as opposed to the 50/1.2.

I hope the nervous transition zone won't be that noticeable on mid distance shots. I'm getting my copy within the next days

Some of it is the bright afternoon sun, some of it is my processing but this new 35 1.2 has distinctly harsher transitions but softer Bokeh than the CV 35 1.7 or Pentax 31, worse than the RX1 and better then the CV 35/2 at similar apertures. I would guess it’s transitions are harsher than the CV 40 or especially 50 1.2 I owned.

Same photo, RAW export with zero editing, just LR defaults. Still busy (to me) but less so. I have mine up for sale on the b/s forum, though I never intended to keep mine.

Looks very similar to the previous version. No surprises. Smaller size and weight are the main bonus.

Looks good to me, thank you!

And smaller price, too! Currently some vendors have V3 on discount for $1,049 (or 1,049 Euro).

Here'a true torture test for those curious.

Mid distance, shot at 1.2, horrible background. All default LR settings on export. To be fair, this is not a nice background.

Toshimi Mtsuda. At least that is what it says on the images.

My CV 35/1.2 III testing was put on hold when my son broke his forearm when running down the stairs...(yes, in the middle of a pandemic)

The good news is that I will test it against a Zeiss 35/1.4 ZM and will include performance on a Leica body... Stay tuned!

I'll be curious how it compares. Both the ZM and the CV35II show noticeable improvement on thin sensor stacks. So far ver.III looks a lot like ver.II, but I wonder how much that pattern will continue in your comparison with the ZM.

Me too! I've shot with the 35/1.4 ZM on the Sony for many years and really love its rendering and contrast. The PCX somehow fixed the induced field curvature but caused a degradation for the mid-field area. I'm very curious how the CV 35/1.2 III and CV 35/1.4 ZM perform on a Leica.
I should get the M240 tomorrow and the Zeiss 35 ZM on Thursday.

Got the M240 today.
Here is a test shot using the CV 35/1.2 III at mid-distance. I like the rendering with this tough background. (but pretty subjects )

Anyone have experience with both the v2 and v3? I'm still enamored with my 40mm, but I miss the 35mm focal length. If the 35 v3 is cut from the same character cloth, it may be worth it for me. Any experience would be greatly appreciated!

If you like the CV 40/1.2's character (rendering, resolution, contrast, colors) but prefer 35mm, the CV 35/1.2 III is for you.

I found it so hard to focus anything with the leica M typ240. Had to shoot in black & white to see the marching ants better.

Is it just me or is there some inward (towards the camera) field curvature at the edges of some of the images? I don't recall seeing this with my CV 35/1.2 v2 on my M10. That said, the out of focus areas look smoother than I achieve with that lens.

CV 35/1.2 III wide open (M240)
(lens and aperture is wrong on the Exif data)
