Subject says it all. Does anyone know where someone can still buy an original canon 6d *new* from a reputable/legit source? So far I can't find them being sold except from the known shady companies.

Canon refurbs are good, but the price currently.... only fifty bucks cheaper than a 6DmkII

Seen 6D's for $899 but not recently.

They have been discontinued. You can find a couple used on the B/S Forum for under $500. The Canon Shop also charges tax...

Why the 6d? There are so many better bodies out there...

They are still extremely usable bodies. The sensor is great.

That depends on your definition of "better" and whether the photographer in question really needs that "better." I am very happy with my 6D and don't need "better" for my uses.

To me, the 6D has the best image quality in smaller form factor. I have an eos RP which they say has the same sensor as the 6D II. I find the image quality from my old 6D better than my 5D III and better than my eos RP. If you can live with the small focus point spread (and for me that was a deal breaker), I think it's the best bang for the buck. As much as I understand why used can be a crap shoot, I would think you could find a 6D with a low shutter count in flawless condition for around 700. I think trying to find one new would be more difficult. It's an amazing camera with the best high ISO performance of any Canon body I've personally tried which include the 5D IV, 5D III, Eos RP.

There is a new 6D on Amazon in the link above.

Just wondering why someone would want a "NEW" camera that has been discontinued for many years, unless the price was amazing, as in like $500.

Just wondering why someone would double post and how they could not notice the DELETE button on the right.

The OP want a new body and he has a budget. Amazon has the 6D for $850 and offers 3 year extended coverage for $57.

Beats buying used and risking your investment.

I agree with that, I shot the 6D from 2013-2018. It was a very capable camera for landscapes especially. Add in the functionality from Magic Lantern and it holds up extremely well given Canons current offerings.

Mine still does everything I want, plus great low light IQ. I think that with the current low prices for this body it offers the best quality sensor at a most reasonable price. People criticize the AF but the centre point is very surefooted.

Maybe check with some local camera or retail stores like Best Buy, etc. for remaining stock.

It sounds like you are under the impression that the 6D2 (and RP) has a better newer sensor than the 6D. It doesn't. Its sensor is very much based on the 5D3 sensor which was worse than the 6D in some areas. The 6D2 follows the 5D3 curve in about any quantitative graph measuring ISO or DR.

The 6D competes in some cases with the 5D4, so is a good viable option to consider.

The R, 5D4, 6D, and possibly the 5DS, likely have the best non 1D FF sensor at this time in Canon's line up, at least when looking at high ISO. The 5D4 and R have the best low ISO DR however, the 6D might be somewhat close. The 6D2 is the worst at low ISO DR amongst the 6D, 5D4, 5DS and R.

If you deal with established members, it's not much of a risk buying used, especially if one uses paypal. Since your feedback status has 50 Great transactions, I would think you would agree with that...

Because sometimes on the phone, when replying, it is hard to tell that FM actually received your request to post and you may hit it again. Then you move onto something else... You may not notice that FM actually received two requests to post. FM form submissions could be enhanced to prevent this, or at least show an indicator that it received your send reply visually instead of a browser progress bar.

It's an International model with no warranty. When I say find, I mean find one from a source I personally would trust. If it's an authorized dealer and the camera is under warranty, that is what I mean by new. Or if it's a really good deal for an international model on ebay, then I might risk it. But this is not a good deal, it's not from an authorized dealer, and it doesn't have a warranty. Canon boxes are not sealed so any random Amazon seller can BS and claim the item is new when it isn't. This is exactly what I meant by hard to find a new one.

Warranty? At the current used prices, buy two! I'll sell you mine. I'm not sure there are any legitimate stores with new stock for a body that old. If you need the next best thing, Canon Refurbished or a used dealer that offers a generous return policy. KEH let me burn through 3 bodies before I found one I was happy with.
