Greetings;

I'm having issues with
Formatt Hitech 85 x 85mm Firecrest ND 3.0 Filter (10-Stop).

Problem is I'm getting persistent reflections of the lens's front element in the photos...

No such issue using B&W 10 stop round multi-coated ND filters......

Prior to purchasing I was reading that coatings were not really needed on strong ND filters, guess that was wrong....

I'm fairly committed at this point, can't return the filters, so I guess I'm looking for any advice that may help......

Placing a coated UV filter on the lens first, then add ND's ?

Shielding the lens somehow ?

hmm...black masking tape or the gaffers tape covering the gap between the filter and the filter holder

You should PM Vieri. I think he is a factory representative for those filters. My Lee Big Stopper has a rubber gasket around the outer edge to keep light out.

I'm pretty sure my 10 stop came with foam that you can cut to shape to provide a seal on the filter, or maybe the holder if you would prefer it on every filter you use.
