birding was extremely slow, people i talked to said song bird counts are way down, the visitor center only had a few chickadees flying around.

couple days i was there, it was finally the last morning that a couple great grays were seen, as i got a couple pictures of one another guy further up the road was getting another, they both disappeared at the same time into the bush just as the rising sun cleared the horizon, least i got this, t talked to a couple women that drove a thousand miles to see them and they never saw anything in the 4 days they were there.

Excellent details on both and the GGO is superb, Brian! There was a fairly recent report about a significant decline of avian population in North America...

end of December is when i was there, first day i got there, nothing, couple days of winter storm Gage that i sat out and these were captured new years eve, got maybe 5 minutes with it and then he was gone

Nice shots. Glad your trip wasn't a total bust. I have my 1st trip to the Bog planned for the end of February. Hope I don't get skunked.

good luck on your trip, it is a shame the 2 owls that were out disappeared so fast, of the numerous times i have been to the bog it's the first time i have seen them out under clear skies and not heavy overcast

The Great Gray is impressive, it just looks powerful and menacing but has a grace about it Brian. Nice details on the shy Chickadee

I too have noticed a decline in the small birds in my area, at times it is haunting it is so quiet, really has me concerned as Nature knows best.
