That, and news that the recent fire at a Sony manufacturing facility has impacted deliveries of Sony, Nikon, and CANON cameras... although I haven't seen any official statements from Sony about the incident yet (they have been telling their distributors and retailers, though). In any case, it's a lot more than you have to back up your position.
I don't doubt that a Sony manufacturing problem would cause delays for Canon as their EVFs are all made by Sony. The R5/R6 still exhibit low frequency noise on high ISO and strongly pushed low ISO images in the deep shadows that is clearly characteristic of Canon's own sensors; no Sony made sensors have shown that since the pre-D800 days. What do you think is more likely, that Canon is fabbing out to Sony for a sensor with better readout speed, dual pixel AF, but still worse low ISO dynamic range than 2012-era Sony sensors (before the baked in NR) and classic Canon low frequency noise or that Canon has finally caught up in some areas but not others?
