I would like to ask those who have used both the Batis 40/2 and the CV 40/1.2 Nokton which one you prefer and why. Thanx.
Salve,
Zeiss Batis 40/2 is a typical, modern Zeiss with AF.Excellent sharpness, microcontrast and vivid, deeply saturated colour rendition.Very usefull close up facility. It's typical Zeiss performance plus ability to go down to RR 1:2 are the best features. If you like Zeiss look go for it.If you also appreciate it's increased close focus versatility plus AF ,then the choice if obvious.
Nokton 40/1.2 "Classic" is manual, fast, full metal, elegant and very well executed lens with very good/excellent sharpness and colours.I tend to use it in low light,in the street and for architectural details, playing with shallow dof.Occasionally for landscapes stopped down.
I have both and while 40mm is not my preferred fl it would be not easy to chose between the two. They are valuable, but quite different lenses.I tend to use Batis much more frequently, but then Nokton 40/1.2 is often neglected only because it's not 35/1.2 or 50/1.2,that I also got and prefer.
