The boy is holding a screech owl and it's a rescue bird as it has only one eye. The photos were taken in a basement under very low light with my Fuji X-T3 at ISO 12800 and the 100-400mm
He/she is cute!
I had one of those little guys fly into the side of my truck a few years ago. I scooped it up and put him a box to then take to a local wildlife rescue lady that specializes in raptors.
I thought it was dying because everytime we opened the box to check on him he went limp.
Come to find out it was a self preservation act as I was later told. They pass out when under stress apparently.
Super cute owl. However, I also love the expression on the boy. He has learned that wildlife enriches our lives, and we have a responsibility to care for nature. Voted
Wow can tell by pupil on the owl just how little light you had Morris. Glad to see it has some special care to look out for it. How did it lose an eye? That is a difficult handicap for an owl I imagine.
