Little WattleBird

Taken in my backyard, the bird had been poking around our vegetable garden fence in the spider webs looking for spiders to eat. The background trees are native Lily Pilli's

Scientific name: Anthochaera chrysoptera

Beautiful feather detail and a great exposure Bear. I'm curious about which birds you post are common and how hard it is to approach them.

Most are wary Morris, there all hunted by some predator or other.

The birds around the house are a little more used to us, in the bush they are a little more skittish.

Like all birding and photographers...... a 600mmf4 (or 800mmf4) is something that I would really like to cut down the tyranny of distance between myself and birds!

I used to shoot with a 150-600 Sport. Lead to injury carrying the big heavy kit. This is why I now shoot Fuji 100-400. I use 1.4x and,2x for reach

Thanks Birdie, I'm just as fascinated by the birds I see posted here.

I use a D850 & 200-500mm Nikkor for most of my bird shots, sometimes with the TC 1.4xIII

I only recently bought a BlackRapid strap.....gee I wish I'd bought one of these years ago!!!!!!!!!!

The black rapid curve is what caused my injury. It feels great and you don't realize it's putting pressure on your nerves. I wound up with a pinched nerve in my neck that aggravated carpel tunnel than I was not aware of. It might have stayed that way. The first treatment for a pinched nerve is physical therapy. When I went in the first time the therapist interviewed me and when I said I do nature and wildlife photography she immediately said "Carrying heavy equipment with the strap on your shoulder and running across your chest is bad! Carrying it hanging from your shoulder is fine." I responded "I bet you know how I've been carrying my gear."

Please be careful. I now use a harness or more frequently carry my tripod over my shoulder.
